Julio M. Baquero, M.D., is a board-certified diagnostic radiologist with subspecialty training in vascular interventional radiology with Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. He specializes in minimally invasive, image-guided procedures to diagnose and treat vascular conditions, including peripheral arterial disease, venous disorders and complex circulatory conditions. With decades of experience, Dr. Baquero is known for his clinical expertise, thoughtful approach to care and long-standing commitment to quality and safety. Dr. Baquero earned his medical degree from Universidad Nacional Pedro H. Ureña in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He completed postgraduate training in internal medicine and pediatrics before pursuing a diagnostic radiology residency at the State University of New York at Stony Brook, where he also served as chief resident. He went on to complete a fellowship in vascular and interventional radiology at Yale New Haven Hospital, Yale University School of Medicine. He is a diplomate of the American Board of Radiology and holds a certificate of added qualification in vascular and interventional radiology. In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Baquero has held academic appointments at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, where he served as a clinical assistant professor of radiology. His academic interests include education, multidisciplinary collaboration and advancing minimally invasive treatment options for complex vascular conditions. Throughout his career, Dr. Baquero has been actively involved in hospital leadership and medical staff committees, including credentials and multidisciplinary cardiovascular committees. His research and scholarly work have been published in peer-reviewed medical journals, and he has presented at national scientific meetings. Dr. Baquero believes in a patient-centered approach to care that emphasizes clear communication, careful evaluation and shared decision-making. He takes time to listen, explain findings and treatment options in an understandable way, and partner with patients so they feel informed, respected and confident in their care. Dr. Baquero speaks English and Spanish. Outside of work, Dr. Baquero enjoys gardening, travel and music.
